Applying to Join Deeside MAC

Membership of the Deeside MAC is open to all.

A limit of 75 has been set on the number of senior members in the Club, and applicants may be placed on the DMAC waiting list if the membership is already fully subscribed.

Each person joining the Deeside MAC is allocated a frequency slot within the 35MHz band, and is expected to use only that frequency at the Broken Bank site. In this way, the number of members on each frequency is kept approximately equal, and frequency clashes at the flying field are minimised. The membership secretary will attempt to allocate a frequency compatible with the applicant's existing equipment, but this may not always be possible.

The Deeside MAC is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association, and all members of the DMAC must also be BMFA members. BMFA membership fees are included in the Deeside MAC subscription fee (unless the applicant is already a BMFA member). Deeside MAC subscriptions for junior members are substantially lower than the senior subscription rate, and reduced subscription rates are available for family membership.

In order to be accepted into the club, an applicant must be proposed for membership by an established member of the Deeside MAC. Applicants usually experience no difficulty in finding a proposer from amongst the present membership - the practice merely encourages prospective members to visit the clubhouse or flying field and get to know people in the club (and vice versa) before they join.

The subscription rates for the year 2008 are:

Senior Member

Junior Member

Family Membership
(1 Senior + 1 Junior)

£53.00

£19.00

£64.00

The above fees do not include BMFA membership (currently £28 for Seniors and £15 for Juniors), which is mandatory for all club members.

There is a one-off joining fee of £50 for all new Senior members, but there is no joining fee for Junior members.

If you would like to apply to join the Deeside MAC you are invited to attend one of our monthly meetings at our Gayton Clubhouse in Heswall, Wirral. The meetings are held on the third Friday of every month, beginning at 8:00pm.

The location of the Deeside MAC Clubhouse is shown on this map. The clubhouse and the car park (which is shared with the Heswall Squash Racquets Club) are at the end of the unnamed road leading southeast from the A5137, Brimstage Road. Please zoom out from the detail map to see its general context.
