Name: Jim Merithew Name: Kees Geerts Name: Mark Winstanley CommentsJust a quick note to wish you and the club a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from those ex-pats over 'ere Name: Rodney George CommentsHello. I am very interested in your information on Wot4's. I have built a number of this type of model. Cheers, Rod Name: Spiros Tsellas CommentsDear Sir Hi, my name is Spiros Tsellas and I live in Corfu Greece. I am a keen modeller and love anything that has to do with planes and models in general. I have been a member of the local club for the last three years. It is not a big club but we all are in love with models. I thing we have glow fuel running in our bodies rather then blood. We have a nice flying field with two runways so we can fly regardless of the direction of the wind. In this part of the world the weather is kind to us for most part of the year, so we go flying all year around. Anyway, I do not want to take much of your time so Ill get to the point, the reason I write this letter. I work for a hotel business which owns three hotels, as an IT manager. One of this hotels is next to our flying field. One day I came up with the idea of modellers going on holidays where they can still enjoy flying models. Thinking of myself whenever I go away from Corfu I always look for the nearest model shop or flying field so I can at least be near models and meet new modellers. The way I look at this idea is that if we (modellers) can combine our holiday destination with our hobby it would be perfect. Think of this as a modeller who is on holidays can get hold of his choice of plane walk a few yards from the hotel and enjoy flying. There could be planes for everyone, trainers, sport, aerobatics, floaters, etc. There could also be charging facilities. When not flying he could be at the bar or the swimming pool amongst other people with the same interest. The hotel is located next to some of the nicest beaches of the island and next to some lovely places for walks. It has a swimming pool, bar and the rooms are spacious. This means that the holiday will not be catered just for the modeller but his companion being a family or another person. Corfu is one of the most popular destinations so it will not be difficult to persuade the other half (always been a problem knowing from myself). From my position at work I am sure that I could arrange for a discount price. I could also persuade my boss to purchase the necessary equipment such as model planes, radio gear, flying boxes etc. and improve our flying field. He could see it as an investment to his hotel. Please do not consider this as an advertisement to try to get customers for the hotel. My aim is for modellers to gain. From our side - the Corfu flying club - we will have the opportunity to meet many people who share the same interest with us. Our flying field will become better and generally the whole thing will help to get more local people into modelling. As for the UK modellers they'll have a great holiday for them and their family and they'll enjoy flying while on vacation. They'll also get a better price for accommodation than they would through a travel agent. I am sending this letter to as many UK flying clubs as I could find and also the BMFA. I am planning to sent it to some German, French, Italian and Greek clubs as well. Maybe in the future this could be an international meeting point for modellers. Your response (positive or negative ) to this letter will be appreciated very much. If you think there is an interest amongst you fellow modellers let me know so I could move on to my next step which will be to convince my boss and get him to spend some money. Any ideas, suggestions or comments will more than welcome. Thanks for your time and I wish you all happy landings. Spiros Tsellas Name: Daryl Buddecke CommentsEnjoyed your page. After my last visit I received an Email from Tim Caldecotte who I had not heard from in almost 30 years. I would like to hear from anyone else who remembers me from the 60's and 70's - we can swap war stories! How are the preparations for the millenium/club aniversary progressing? Name: John MacLeary CommentsExcellent site - I intend to re-awaken my boyhood interest in r/c (I'm 42 now). I'll be in touch! Name: Peter Dowell Name: William A. Name: Dave Name: Kevin Poole Name: Jonathan Mead CommentsI enjoyed the gallery photos very much. The bad day narrative was very entertaining. Name: Bruce Ogilvy CommentsNice site. Why are all good flying sites inhospitable in winter??? Name: Jean-Daniel Chambaz CommentsNice to "know" you. Name: Philip Duthie CommentsGreat web site, with good information and links. After contacting Andy Tabor regarding an enquiry about R. Sweeney's F16, had a very prompt reply and gained a useful telephone number! Name: Andrew Thomson CommentsThis was the first place I have visited on the www! Nice to see my Cardboard Puppeteer on the web. Will be back to see future updates. Name: Mike Valabek CommentsJust a note "across the pond" from one aeronut to another. We fly from a 200m x 50m turf field near Annapolis Maryland. Name: Owen Gallagher CommentsNice site. I will have to pay a visit to your next meet. Regards, Owen (The Wirral Aviation Society) Name: Paul Milligan CommentsGreat web site. It brought back some memories. I was in HMAC in the early 60's. Is anyone still there from that time? Name: Kingsley Neumann CommentsNice site. My Club is also the HMAC and we have a pretty good page too (complicated URL above). The photos and details of models are great. Your flying site sounds interesting. Ours is in a very prominent position with busy arterial roads on two sides. We have about 100 members and fly seven days a week all year round. Some of our best flying conditions are in the winter. Summer can be a bit hot. Name: Andy Mason Name: Tim Caldecott CommentsGreat to see HMAC has a web site. I was member in late 60's/early 70's Anyone from that era still in HMAC ? Name: Keith Cecil CommentsWhy do you guys have all the neat models and engines? Name: Donald Marriott CommentsHave been modelling since 1952 and used to fly full size. Have Hotel in N Devon with its own flying strips (grass) well mown and rolled. If passing give a call to Hoops Inn & Hotel. A group of modellers meet within a few miles of me, but it's on a Sunday so I have to be a lone modeller. Name: Andy Percival Name: Mr Richard E C Phipps CommentsMr father was wondering if there was the possibility of locating model aircraft wing sections on the internet. Any suggestions/ideas of any possible sites where I could locate such information for him? Thank you kindly. Name: Figure9 CommentsFigure9 says "Hello!" from the RCOnline chat room. Your page looks great - it'll take me some time to see it all. Name: Howard (Lightfoot) Sullivan CommentsInteresting site, Andy. Good quality pictures. Name: Jerry Eberhardt CommentsBeautiful site, well put together. Name: Michel Jeanneret CommentsWish you all a good flying season. Name: Walt Avery CommentsReal aeroplanes have 2 wings & big round cowls Name: Jim Cooke CommentsI use Irvine engines and enjoy kits from the U.K. such as Anglia's Complete-a-Pac kits. Presently building an original Kraft Ugly stick and then plan to move on to the new Top Flight Spitfire. I am a regular on R/C Online. Name: Rex Birkinbine Name: Gary K. Matthew CommentsGraham Bankes invited me to have a look around on the site. Looks really nice. Wish I had some time to do some modelling -- was heavily into it as a youngster, primarily U-control, mostly scale stuff from WWI and WWII. Still have a .35cu in engine laying around! Again, really nice job on the site -- love it. Name: David Hare CommentsI used to fly R/C models a fair bit until 1990 when I was posted from Valley, Anglesey, and due to the tired nature of my gear decided to sell up. However, I am thinking of starting up again, probably with an intermediate trainer, when I can get the dosh together. I came upon your site by looking through the BMFA homepage. May I congratulate you on one of the best R/C model aircraft sites on the web. Name: Anthony Jones CommentsOne of the neatest sites yet; of interest due to an upcoming visit to the Heswall area next year. Name: Bill Fulmer CommentsAndy: This is an excellent site. I would like to see you apply for a "Site of the Week" award at RCOnline.com Name: Rick Hughes CommentsHi Andy. Thanks for the message. Great site, liked your pics Hope to chat again soon on IRC. FM-Sam :-) Name: Dave (Not) Johnson CommentsGood, clear, concise site. Keep up the good work. Name: Whispering Death CommentsJust visiting - nice website! Name: James Davies CommentsJust visiting. I am thinking of investing in a R/C model and I am looking at clubs in the area to join. Nice Website! Cheers, James Name: Mark Winstanley CommentsNice to see the photographs. I see your club members get up to the same sort of things we do over here! Since we last corresponded I have started a 1/4 scale Spacewalker by Sig. I aim to put in a US engines 25 cc gas engine in for power. Otherwise, we just received 10 cm of snow this weekend, that was on top of the 15 cm we received last Thursday. I'm off skiing tomorrow (the heck with work!). Keep up the good work and keep in touch. Let me know how the 50th/millenium celebrations are panning out. Name: John L. Tasker CommentsHi Andy, we met today 21/3 at Broken Bank. Just signing in to say I found your site. John T. Name: William D. Hinkle CommentsI found your site very interesting and informative. Keep up the good job. Name: P J Norman CommentsA nice imformative web site, It has been suggested that The BMAC has its own site, but as yet no-one including myself has found the time to create it, not to worry maybe one day. Our club is mainly fixed wing fun flying, with a bit of everthing else, gliders, helis, control line and scale. We have about 50 members Name: Clive G Lewis Name: Dell Pratt CommentsCome on over to Top Gun 98---We are the host club and many spectaters ask where are the Brits? Name: Paul Thomas CommentsAs some of your other visitors have said- yours is one of the nicest UK sites. I was a junior member of Heswall MAC until 1965. We flew C/L from the football field on Gayton Road and FF + some RC, if my memory serves me, near Brimstage. My family moved to London and I didn't fly again until 1990! Anyway, I'm well back into it now- Jets taking most of my time. The reason that I have been visiting various club sites is to help our Committee decide whether to do likewise. A quick survey established that very few of our members are connected to the Internet, so we presume that it is the same elsewhere. Do you think that having a site has brought you any benefits? I know that a start has to be made somewhere but I have this nagging feeling that RC flyers don't have much recreation time to do anything else! Thus, the only audience are those who use PCs for professional reasons. What do you think? Regards Paul Thomas Name: Vince Owen CommentsNice site its a shame that there aren't more good quality RC sites that come up to your standards Name: Peter Dennis CommentsExcellent Site. Nice to see model flying in my former home area (Little Sutton). Thanks for the link to SWRCS. I will place a lin to you soon. Name: John Sammons Name: Cliff Harvey CommentsIt's great to visit a UK flying club for a change. The American sites are so glitzy . I've recently started a web site for our club, perhaps you could add it to your Links page. I'll add yours to ours. Cheers, Cliff Harvey, sec. t&drfc Name: Ted Mason (Brother of Roy) CommentsHow on earth can I find you at this somewhat obscure address - otherwise an excellent Website - as one would expect of Andy Name: Colin Campbell Name: Gary Barns CommentsGood page. Interested in seeing aircraft flying at your club. Name: Jim High Name: Chris Stanley CommentsNice web site, should attract a lot more attention to the club. Name: Mark Winstanley CommentsKeep up the good work. I would be interested in pictures of members models etc. |
